Adaptive Learning
What is Adaptive Learning?
Adaptive learning is a method of learning that is specialized to each student in the classroom. Other ways it is known by is accommodations, learning adaptations, personalized learning plan, or learners personal plan.
What Does it look like?
In a traditional classroom setting it can look like accommodations to the student to help their learning needs. These kinds of accommodations are mostly available for students who do not learn the traditional way or have a barrier that prevents them from learning the content in class. For example, some students need accommodations have a learning disability, neurodivergent, language barrier, and visual barriers.
In a nontraditional classroom environment, it can look like online schooling or homeschooling program. Some families prefer this method of learning for their children because of there learning barriers and a different type of learning works better for the student instead of going to a school in the community. This can be in a form of evaluation of the students learning and knowledge of a subject and have projects instead of assignments. This would benefit the students learning the best for them and meet the requirements for the student in the future.
How does it affect students and teachers
It builds a healthy relationship with different ways of learning and helps teachers with different understanding of teaching different methods.
What if there are no resources?
Depending on the classroom it can vary on budget and the classroom setting it can vary how to change the classroom environment by budget friendly options like covers over the fluorescent lighting and fidget toys for the classroom to manage behaviours and then create a learning plan for individual student needs.
